This workshop will investigate the elements of Verbatim Theatre: a form of documentary theatre based on the spoken words of real people. Using interviews, speeches, letters, diary entries, and recordings of real conversations, participants will apply an artist’s eye to the humanity of history, researching, questioning, and gaining a greater understanding of events that spark their interest. With this material, you will create works of theatre that aim to faithfully represent your subject, while expressing your own point of view – discovering that the truth is rarely pure, and never simple…
