During her stay at Gorman Arts Centre, writer and film-maker Anna Snoekstra worked on her novel, titled The New Winter.

The New Winter is a New Adult Crime novel set in Canberra. The work is split narrative, taking place in 2003 and the present day.

Anna Snoekstra grew up in Canberra, ACT, and moved to Melbourne, Victoria, at age eighteen. She is a Writer and Filmmaker. She makes short films and music videos for local bands, most recently ‘Possessed’ for Cicrular Keys, which was exhibited at The National Gallery of Victoria.

Anna’s writing has been featured in the many journals and magazines. Her story ‘The Siren’, about the 2003 Canberra bushfires, was included in the anthology Reaching Out, published by Harper Collins in 2013. Her first novella Greyfields has been shortlisted for Seizure’s Viva La Novella Prize 2014. She is an Arts writer for the monthly magazine The Melbourne Review.
