Working in the performing arts can be deeply rewarding, but it also asks us to show up with openness, empathy and vulnerability. Whether you’re an actor, facilitator, community artist or creative practitioner, developing tools to care for yourself is just as important as caring for the communities you work with.
This August and September, Rebus Theatre presents Resilience Workshops, a five-part series led by Koko Shie and Lucien Simon. Designed for performers, facilitators and community artists, the workshops explore practical approaches to grounding, performance preparation, self-care, de-rolling, and holding space for others with confidence and compassion.
Together, participants will develop skills to support sustainable creative practice, strengthen emotional resilience and foster environments where people feel safe, respected and connected. The series reflects Rebus Theatre’s commitment to creating inclusive, trauma-informed artistic spaces where creativity can flourish without compromising wellbeing.
Whether you’re new to community arts or an experienced practitioner, these workshops offer an opportunity to invest in yourself while connecting with others who share a passion for meaningful creative work.
