This October, the world of Jane Austen comes to life in Canberra with the Jane Austen Mystery Ball, an evening of dance, music and Regency-inspired revelry, presented in collaboration with Ausdance ACT and Ainslie Arts Centre.
Following the sell-out success of last year’s Jane Austen 250th Anniversary Ball, this year’s event invites guests to step once again into the social world that inspired Austen’s enduring novels. Set within the historic surrounds of Ainslie Arts Centre, the evening will feature period-inspired dancing, live music, entertainment and conviviality — and, this year, a touch of mystery woven throughout the evening.
Dance Master David Wanless will guide guests through the evening’s dances, accompanied by The Bard Band, making the event equally inviting for experienced dancers and those taking their first steps onto the dance floor.
The evening offers an opportunity to dress up, step away from the everyday and immerse yourself in the grace, wit and social pleasures of the Regency era. Supper is included.
Whether you arrive as a devoted Austen reader, an enthusiastic dancer or simply curious to experience something a little different, the Jane Austen Mystery Ball promises an evening where literature, music and dance meet in celebration of one of the world’s most beloved novelists.
