The final instalment of Ainslie Salon 2022 is kicking off on Wednesday, and this time it has a taste of everything. Funk, hip-hop to indie and beyond – Ainslie Salon: Sonic Travels run across 4 nights at the historic Ainslie Arts Centre. It promises great music and guaranteed good vibes.

We caught up with two more Sonic Travels acts, Pictures with yuki and locals Dog Name for a quick chat on what they love, how they create and who they are excited to see this coming weekend at Ainslie Salon.

What can people expect from the set you’ll be performing at Ainslie Salon: Sonic Travels?

Friendship, music and fun.

Who has had the greatest impact on your development as an artist?

Maybe my year 12 english teacher who made me cry every second week critiquing my work, telling me to avoid clichés and mixed metaphors, insisting that I had to have Something to Say.

What are you most looking forward to in regards to your upcoming performance at Ainslie Salon: Sonic Travels?

Seeing Moody Beaches and Pictures with Yuki perform

How would you describe the Canberra music scene you are a part of and which local performers do you think people should know about?

Ours is an alternative rock band, there are plenty in Canberra. I have too many favourites  to mention all of them, from the past and present. Some are: Kilroy, Territory, Spouse, Jim Dusty, Magic Rob Universe, s.wells, Paint Store, Lily Morris, Oranges, Pete Huet and the Tyre Slashers. Special mention to bands with former Canberrans Sylvia, Pash, Moaning Lisa. I am very keen to hear Dog Name member Lara’s band Love Maps!

When you’re not creating music, how do you like to spend your time?

Reading, watching tv, going to shows. Swimming!
