Discover the beauty and grace of South Indian classical dance as Ausdance ACT presents an exciting workshop with Vaidehi Subramanyan during Australian Dance Week.

Ausdance ACT presents the next offering in our 2023 Workshop Series presented in partnership with Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres during Australian Dance Week. Join Vaidehi Subramanyan to explore the movements, lines and storytelling of the South Indian classical dance form Bharatanatyam.

This workshop will take participants through the basic postures and movements of Bharatanatyam and then introduce participants to some hand gestures used in Bharatanatyam. Participants will be shown how these hand gestures, along with the basic movements, can be used to tell a short story from Hindu mythology.

The workshop is aimed at participants of all ages, with or without prior dance experience.
