Music for Canberra’s string orchestras provide a vibrant and supportive space for young string players to grow their skills, build confidence, and enjoy making music together.

With ensembles catering to a range of experience levels—from those just starting out to advanced players—students receive expert guidance while developing ensemble techniques, musical expression, and a strong sense of collaboration. Performing regularly throughout the year, including in end-of-term concerts and special events, our string orchestras give students the chance to share their progress and experience the thrill of live performance.

Whether you’re looking to strengthen your playing, meet other young musicians, or take the next step in your musical journey, Music for Canberra’s string program is a wonderful place to begin.

Louise Butler Strings is a beginner string ensemble for young musicians. Classes: 9am – 10:30am, Room 6.

McCusker Strings is an intermediate string ensemble for young musicians. Classes: 9am – 12pm, Room 1.
