NVM

Textured divide

NVM is a Canberra-based music collective formed by five musicians who met during high school and have since developed a collaborative practice grounded in live performance, experimentation and community-building. Over the past year and a half, the group has performed across Canberra venues including Smith’s Alternative, Blue Eyes, Dissent and Fun Time Pony, while also contributing to events such as Haig Village Markets and Feedback Fest at the Australian National University.

The collective brings together diverse creative disciplines and experiences. Jay works as a bassist, manager and producer, Brad is a drummer, beatmaker and multidisciplinary artist with years of experience, Will is an emerging engineer, singer-songwriter and guitarist, Cam is a music teacher and jazz pianist, and Gavin supports as a vocalist. Together, NVM’s work spans music production, live improvisation, songwriting, recording and event curation.

Originally rooted in R&B and indie music, the group’s sound has expanded into grunge, folk, rap and experimental hip hop, reflecting an evolving interest in genre fusion and artistic exploration. Central to NVM’s philosophy is the belief that creativity thrives through collaboration and accessibility.

Through ROOM 04, the collective aims to connect both new and established audiences while uplifting young creatives through accessible artistic infrastructure. ROOM 04 functions as a hyper-local recording and collaboration space, offering mentorship opportunities, alternative distribution pathways, creative development, content platforms and affordable services designed to support emerging artists and strengthen Canberra’s independent creative community.
