Maverick musician Lucas Abela’s ecstatic performances with shards of amplified glass are the stuff of legend. His practice emerged within the noise underground, where the glass evolved from a means to create free-noise cacophonies into an oddly versatile instrument producing an organic form of outsider electronica.
Such a unique approach to music creation has attracted the attention of some of the worlds most adventurous musicians, and resulting in serendipitous collaborations with the likes of Lou Reed, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Nirvana), Flaming Lips and Death Grips. When COVID struck, Lucas hunkered down at home to reinvent how he processes the glass. After transforming his setup, Lucas has turned the normally mono glass into a quadraphonic instrument and is taking this new quadraphonic show on tour for the first time!
