During Queensland Ballet’s upcoming season of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ausdance ACT is delighted to host a Masterclass with Queensland Ballet’s Kohei Iwamoto as part of our 2023 Workshop Series.

Class Description
Queensland Ballet is excited to offer local dancers a ballet masterclass, followed by a Q&A, with Senior Soloist Kohei Iwamoto. Open to pre-professional students aged 15 years and over and independent artists, this masterclass provides a wonderful opportunity for dancers to further their training and gain valuable industry insights from a Queensland Ballet dancer.

Biography
Kohei Iwamoto was born in Hyogo, Japan, and to his parents’ surprise, decided he wanted to take up ballet lessons at the age of ten. He started training in ballet at 11 at the Sadamatu Hamada Ballet Studio. After competing in the Youth America Grand Prix, Kohei won a full scholarship to attend The Australian Ballet School. He graduated in 2010 and danced with the Royal New Zealand Ballet for eight years, joining Queensland Ballet as a Soloist in 2018. Kohei is now a Senior Soloist within the company.

“My best piece of advice for aspiring dancers is to enjoy and feel the music while dancing.” – Kohei Iwamoto
