Following a successful exhibition at Strathnairn arts, emerging 80 year old artist David Kindon pounced on the opportunity to exhibit at Gorman Arts immediately before its lengthy closure for major renovations.

Whilst the overall collection is eclectic, the exhibition focuses on the theme of water and particularly the sea. Other elements of the include larger works in the impressionist style of Monet, portraits, political commentary and abstraction.

Following a career as a naval officer and then Canberra-based lobbyist David Kindon returned to study in his 70s acquiring two Masters degrees and began painting during term breaks. His pastime has now become an obsession and due to his longevity, a consequent rapid evolution of his style.

The subtitle for the exhibition is “Last Chance Salon“ reflecting the imminent closure of F block for renovation.

2024 has seen a major reincarnation and blossoming into something entirely unexpected and he looks forward to 2025 as a year in which he establishes himself as worthy of the title “artist”.
